What data do we use, and why?
Processing and delivering your order, managing returns and customer service
- Data: name, shipping and billing addresses, email, phone number if you provide it, order contents.
- Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Retention period: for the duration of the order and applicable warranty periods, then archived.
Maintaining our accounting records
- Data: order and payment data appearing on the invoice.
- Legal basis: legal obligation.
- Retention period: 10 years (French Commercial Code).
Processing a return request submitted through the online form
- Data: first name, last name, email, order number, and if you provide them: dates, phone number, reason, message, photos.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (processing your return request).
- Retention period: the request is kept for 5 years as a record; photos are deleted after 6 months.
Responding to your messages
- Data: name, email, message, and order number if you provide it.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (responding to your inquiry).
- Retention period: for the time needed to handle your request.
Reminding you of a cart you did not complete
- Data: email entered during checkout, cart contents.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (helping you complete a purchase you started), with the ability to opt out of these emails at any time.
- Retention period: 3 years after the cart was created.
Sending you offers on products similar to those you have purchased
- Data: email address.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest, with the ability to opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in each email.
- Retention period: 3 years after your last purchase.
Securing payment and preventing fraud
- Data: payment data, processed directly by our payment providers. We never see your card number.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest and legal obligation.
- Retention period: as determined by the payment provider.
Who receives your data?
- Our server hosting provider and Cloudflare, Inc. (content delivery and security), for the operation and security of the site.
- Our payment providers: Stripe (credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna) and PayPal.
- Our suppliers and shipping partners, solely to ship your order (name, address, phone number).
We do not sell or rent your data.
International Transfers
We may transfer, store, and process your data outside the country where you reside, with the providers and suppliers who help us fulfill your order. When one of them is located in a country that does not provide a level of data protection equivalent to that of your home country, we share only what is strictly necessary to fulfill your order.
Your Rights
You may request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of use, and portability, and you may opt out of commercial emails at any time (unsubscribe link in each email, or by sending a request to contact@bathroom-rugs.com). We respond within one month.
If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov), or with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), as the seller is established in France.
Cookies
The site uses only cookies that are necessary for its operation: shopping cart, security, and payment. They are not used for advertising or audience measurement and therefore do not require your consent. You may block them in your browser, but the cart and payment functions may no longer work properly if you do. In accordance with CalOPPA, we do not respond to Do Not Track signals, as we do not use tracking or analytics cookies. No third party collects your online activity through this site.

This policy may be updated from time to time; the date of the last update appears at the top of this page.

In the event of a dispute arising from the interpretation or performance of these terms, the competent court will be determined by the applicable legal rules.
